Choose and keep the best dress for you

JFS STYLE

Finding the perfect evening dress is not easy and it is even less know how to choose according to your morphology. Being beautiful, elegant and seductive with an evening dress 2009? To achieve this, follow our advice.

The law of color

Dark skin: Try the lighter colours. White, yellow, green or pink goes with you wonderfully. Forget the brown and the look total black.

White Skin: on the contrary, you must avoid the white and yellow, not too attractive on a porcelain skin. The other colours you can feel good, all depends on your shades. Your color star, especially if you’re white or brown: red. It’s glamorous, trendy and chic.

Your morphology

If you have enough breasts: better to use neckline dresses. As for the sleeves, the must be short, even cupped at the shoulders, to release the arms. If you want to put braces, which are fine tuned since the bust.

If you have belly: Forget tissue as satin and silk, which highlight the curves. Best a dress or straight cut and empire keeps tight at the waist, it can mark the tires and belly. Feel free to cheat. Put a body under the clothing or a wide belt tied in front to conceal the roundness.

If you are straight from the waist: the straight line is ideal. Use original straps spaghetti or decorated with pearls to attract the gaze towards the bust. The empire court also rules is fine, but will have the dress to reach the ankle to look glamorous style.

If you rear a evening dress of a straight cut or a color rule you will be perfectly smooth. Avoid patterns, especially at the bottom. Avoid the neckline in the back, as it enlarges the rear. Please a long evening jacket coordinated.

Tips for the neckline:

General rule: The fewer chests should be the biggest gap, in both front and back.

Openings: if front Beware and do not be too sexy or vulgar! The best way to judge will sit in front of a mirror. If the opening is on one side you can afford to be between the thigh and below the knee, if you have thin legs. If you are rather broad, this is open only to the knee.

If the opening is behind: opt for a small win for elegance. Avoid showing the fold behind the knee as it is not very aesthetic. CLICK HERE FOR READ MORE...

2010 Fashion Trends : Dressing Up Your Swimwear

JFS STYLE

Of course, all swimwear isn't for swimming in. For any fashioniser beaches, pools and resorts are equally about socialising and mojitos as they are about cultivating the perfect tan; face facts, we're not always there to get our toes wet.

Enter a Spring/Summer season where no beach-wear will be complete without accessorizing. And the one key trend to use? The sheer trend.

While he gave us some of the season's sexiest bikinis by way of label Hervé Léger, with his own label Max Azria relied on the sheer trend (1 & 2) as a way of setting off otherwise lackluster swimwear; a good thing to note if you intend to recycle pieces from last year. Gottex one upped him however, with their gold, floral halter sheer slip which was a stand out of New York Fashion Week's swimwear fashions (3).CLICK HERE FOR READ MORE...

2010 Fashion Trends : Cut-Away Swimwear / Bikinis

JFS STYLE

Cut away clothes pieces are a major trend of 2009 and much like the one shoulder trend, it's a style being applied to bikinis and swimwear. Infrequently demure, this really is one bikini trend that screams 'sex'!

1. Not as tightly fitting as other 'spray on' monokinis this season, Amanda Wakeley's white one-piece pairs a deep neck line with cut-away sides.
2. A two-piece with boob-tube, this bikini by Carmen Marc uses the cut-away trend with subtlety. All the same, these cutaway briefs are more than eye catching.
3. A monokini by Carmen Marc, this swimwear piece is equally as subtle as the aforementioned two-piece, but far more demure.
4. Similar to Amanda Wakeley's white one-piece (1) this screen-printed monokini is from Miss Sixty.
5. The most luxurious of the pieces featured, this almost-two-piece monokini from Gottex pairs a halter-neck top, joined briefs, and gold piping.
6. - 10. are all from the one catwalk which screamed sex, decadence, and youth; the one catwalk that really grabbed my eye at New York Fashion Week; Hervé Léger by Max Azria Spring/Summer 2009. With enough cut-away than you can possibly wear throughout Summer, these are knock-out pieces that you're not necessarily going to want to get wet.CLICK HERE FOR READ MORE...

JFS STYLE

Come Spring/Summer 2009 we're all going to be eager to hit the beach; preferably one of many from the beauty of the Mediterranean. But which swimwear pieces and bikinis will women be wearing? 2009 fashion trends will again be a major influencer and, in particular, the year's one shoulder fashion trend.

* One-Shoulder Bikinis and Monokinis
* Cut-Away Bikinis
* Accessorizing A Bikini

One-Shoulder Bikinis / Monokinis

Taking their cues from the one shoulder fashion trend, one-shouldered bikinis will be the must have swimwear in 2009.

Thankfully, a standout one-shouldered swimwear piece isn't going to be hard to come by.

1. Marios Schwab married the one-shouldered bikini with the cutaway bikini trend on his Spring/Summer 2009 runway at London Fashion Week. This particular piece also uses Summer florals taking what a risqué bikini to a girl level. It's cut and under-strapping make this a particular good piece for smaller chested girls.
2. Victoria's Secret included a single-shouldered piece in their 2008 line-up. More notable for it's side-tie briefs, this attention grabbing feature makes it a good bikini for girls whose legs are stand out.
3. A one-shouldered monokini was naturually used on Hervé Léger by Max Azria's Spring/Summer 2009 catwalk but sadly with no-where near the same sex appeal as other pieces in the collection. Read cut-away swimwear below for more
4. Under his own name Max Azria also sent a single-shouldered monikini down the catwalk, again pairing it with the cut-away trend. This particular piece stands out for it's use of a buckle clasp to join the body fabric with the shoulder. As with piece 3, smaller breasted girls are probably to avoid these particular cuts as they their black fabric will need some filling out to look best.
5. While not truly a one-shoulder monokini, Gottex's piece from their Spring/Summer 2009 collection has the same visual effect. It's clever halter neck also allows for a more revealing but and better support.
6. Finally, if you still have access to 2008 pieces; Gucci debuted their sophisticated take on the one-shouldered monokini as a part of their Spring/Summer 2008 collection.

Fashion Trend 2010 : Thigh high boots / over the knee boots trend

JFS STYLE

When it comes to 2010 fashion trends we're facing a year of subtlety and tradition. And while many of us will be wearing classical silhouettes and subdued colours we'll all be in need of making them pop; after all, doesn't every fashioniser want to stand out from the crowd?

For women that 'stand out' look is just about to get a whole lot easier thanks to the hottest trend for shoes in 2010: thigh high boots.

Originally I tipped that this trend would enter the wardrobes of fashion forwards women in Autumn (Fall)/Winter 2009/2010, but you've all gone ahead and worn them anyway. Yes, Summer may just be about to reach the Northern Hemisphere but seasons be damned. You want your thigh-high boots, and you want them now!

It didn't seem all that long ago that boots on women fell strictly into two domains: equestrian pursuits and 'come fuck me' boots. Thankfully society's hang ups about women in knee-high boots have long since vanished, as has a penchant for overly conservative boots. And women's boots in 2010 will be anything but conservative.

Yes, over-the-knee boots are back with a vengeance but this 2009/2010 shoe trend won't stop there. In fact, the top of your boots will be going much higher: thigh-high boots are going mainstream.

Over-the-knee and thigh-high are undoubtedly the hottest shoe trend for women in the Autumn (Fall)/Winter season, but while they scream 'sex' make sure they don't do it in the wrong way. Let's not forget, that both styles of boots are also the domain of those lovely women one sees quite frequently at night ensuring that cars don't linger for too long near street corners. So to avoid the "I wonder how much she charges" glances I recommend you also avoid two main things with any pair of over-the-knee or thigh-high boots you decide to invest in: chunky heels and a high-sheen patent finish.

Materials

If patent is to be avoided (and PVC never to be considered), then what materials do I recommend? Genuine leather, of which you're safest investment choice is classic matt black or brown. If you want a more unique colour leather, your other big choices for 2009/2010 are olive greens, greys (see Rodarte and Topshop Unique) or cream/neutral tones. Suede, the other big choice for this trend, is very much the go be it in black, brown, grey, maroon, or pretty much any other colour variation. One other material you might look at incorporating into your 2010 over-the-knee boot collection is shearling or wool lining, which makes for cosy aviation-inspired looks akin to those seen at Antonio Berardi.

Styles

Classic: for a classic or elegant take on the over-the-knee boot, your best bet is to go for a slim-fitting suede pair with a round or tapered toe. Look no further than Hermes or Isabel Marant for some perfect examples of styles that will stand the test of time.

Rock: the right pair of tight black leather over-the-knee boots screams rock-chic; tough, but sexy. Check out Ohne Titel, Yigal Azrouel, Barbara Bui and Jean Paul Gaultier for some key examples.

Futurism/Cyberpunk: building upon the cyberpunk influences of recent years, some designers have thrown an element of dark futurism into the thigh-high boot mix. Particularly evident in the wound-and-bound effects of boots by Rodarte and Topshop Unique, this is a trend I expect we'll see more of in coming seasons.

Quirky: if none of the above is quite bold enough for you, and you really want to stand out this winter, there have been many other less subtle takes on this trend to hit the runway. Louis Vuitton introduced metallics and top-to-toe laces, while Hussein Chalayan's garter-topped thigh-highs are nothing short of brazen. Do be warned though; if long-term wearability is what you're after then this is probably not the road to go down.

One other thing that you should avoid: wearing thigh-high boots in place of pants, leggings or other form of leg covers as we saw on the Prada 2009/2010 catwalk.

Where To Buy: This far out from the 2009/2010 collections actually hitting stores it's hard to guess how many smaller boutiques are already stocking above-the-knee and thigh-high boots. So do what you should always do: seek out that 100% unique vintage pair.

If vintage footwear is not your thing than refer to any of the collections from the aforementioned designers or turn to the pictures below for more inspiration. Click them for a larger view.

The Perfect Swimsuit for Your Figure

JFS STYLE

We can’t all wear the same style swimsuits because unfortunately, we all have different shaped bodies. And as much as I would love to pull off some sexy, exotic swimsuits I see on the runways, I have to come to terms that I am not that tall, nor that skinny – so I have to find a swimsuit that fits my shape, not someone elses. Keep reading to see which swimsuit best suits your figure!

Problem #1: Small Bust
We’re not all blessed with a bountiful bust, so we have to make do with whatever we have. To hide a small bust, wear swimsuits with padding (just make sure they look ok once you get wet!), ruffles to add more volume, and prints to distract from the problem area. Also, make sure the colors work in your favor too! Pair a dark bottom with a bright top to make it work.

Problem #2: Large Bust
If you find that you’re spilling out everywhere, you may need to rethink your swimsuit. Did you know that swimsuits actually run 2 sizes smaller than regular clothing? So with that in mind, choose a swimsuit with a built-in bra or an underwire to avoid spillage. Stay away from bandeaus, keyhole, string bikinis and demi-bra styles.

Problem #3: Belly Bulge
One of the most common swimsuit problems is the belly bulge. Choose a plunging-halter suit which will draw the attention away from the bulge. You can also go with something that has a pattern or some sort of detail at the mid-section to draw the eye away. You can also look for swimsuits with built-up tummy control as well as tankinis. But just stay away from the bikinis.

Problem #4: Thick Thighs
To hide thick thighs, go for swimsuits with a high cut on the leg, which will make your legs look longer and slim your thighs. Also, stay away from shorts as they actually tend to make your thighs and butt look bigger. Instead, draw the attention away with a colorful or embelished top. Also, you can mix your bikini pieces by putting the darkest on the bottom and the lighter color on top.CLICK HERE FOR READ MORE...

Mary-Kate Olsen: Fashion Hit or Miss?

JFS STYLE

The Olsen twins always tend to surprise us with their dress of choice, and sometimes we really dig it while other times we just don’t even know what to think. The culprit though, always seems to be Mary-Kate who pulls off some of the strangest and unique outfits we have ever seen. So what is she wearing now?

Well I don’t quite know where she got the inspiration from, but that outfit as a whole is a little too vampire-esque for me. She’s an exceptionally beautiful woman, but the black does no good to her. The dress actually makes her look shorter than she is, and even though we can see she has a belt on, it’s barely noticeable therefore blending in with the rest of the dress.

The only thing I do like on this outfit is her shoes which are to die for and the clutch which brings out a little bit of color to the ensemble. Overall, I would give this look a 5/10.

Celeb Fashions: Rachel Bilson

JFS STYLE

I must say I am a fan of Rachel Bilson’s just because her style is just fabulous. She always knows how to dress (although there are a few occasional slip ups) and she can pull off almost anything. She’s super cute, and what’s best is that she always smiles! Anyways, I found a picture of her and thought I’d review it because I absolutely loved this look she pulled off.

In this picture we see Rachel wearing a little black dress. It cris crosses as a halter at the top, which really accentuate her shoulders and arms. The above the knee length of the dress along with the frilly bottom has a very feminine touch to it and looks perfect to be worn both at night and during the day.

I have to talk about her pumps. They are so simple, but at the same time so elegant, and they go perfectly with her outfit. They give her a great pair of long, slim legs, and make her look fabulous!

The bag is just magic: without it, the outfit would have completely flunked. Because her dress and her shoes are both black, the purple bag with all of the details including gold chains and black lining, make this outfit to die for.

Rachel McAdam’s Plunging Dress: Yey or Nay?

JFS STYLE

Rachel McAdams is one of my favorite actresses, and I think we all fell in love with her somewhere during Mean Girls and the Notebook, but she recently launched her new movie The Time Traveler’s Wife, and showed up in a plunging neckline dress at the opening. So what do you think of her look, yay or nay?

First off I must say this is a different look for Rachel, who is otherwise pretty conservative and simple. I don’t hate the dress, but I can’t say I love it either. I don’t know if it’s the angle at which this picture was taken or what, but she seems really short to me! With that said, I think her hair looks absolutely gorgeous..very roaring 20s which I think complements the otherwise revealing dress.

I think this would have totally worked for Rachel if a few things woulda have been tweaked on the dress. First, I believe I’m seeing some shoulder pads…which I cannot stand. Second, the dress is the wrong length for Rachel – I think something that sweeped the floor would have suited her better. Overall though, I still think she looks beautiful, just the wrong dress! What do you think of Rachel’s look?

Rihanna’s New Look: Yay or Nay?

JFS STYLE

You’ve undoubtedly seen Rihanna’s new look by now…edgy, rock n’ roll, maybe a little crazy? Her look has sure come a long way since we first saw her in Pon de Replay with her long locks and sweet girl personality. So what do you think of Rihanna’s new look? Do you like it or do you think she went too far?

I will honestly tell you that when Rihanna first came out, I had a girl crush on her. I thought she was one of the most beautiful people I have ever seen, and I loved her music too. But, along the years, something happened to change Rihanna from the sweet girl next door, to the dark, edgy rocker that we know today.

I have to say I liked Rihanna’s ‘Posh’ haircut that she sported earlier this year, but for some reason, she just keeps going shorter and shorter, and I’m not so sure that’s a good look for her. So what do you all think of Rihanna’s new look? Yay or nay? Let me know!

How to Dress Slimmer

JFS STYLE

In case you haven’t noticed, fashion trends have been evolving considerably, and it’s pretty safe to say that in today’s fashion and style world, anything goes! Whatever fits your shape is good to go, and that is why it’s crucial that you pick out clothes that fit your body shape. You want to find items that accentuate your good curves, and ones that cover the bad ones. So how can you pick out clothes that make you look slimmer? It’s so easy, keep reading!

If you find that you’re heavier on the bottom (around your thighs and butt), go for empire waist styles, as well as sun dresses, or anything with a belt at the waist. This will create the illusion of a slim and fit bottom because it will accentuate your waist.

One trick to looking slimmer, and one that everyone should know, is of course putting on some heels. You know that empowered feeling that you get from wearing heels (and yes, you can admit that you look sexy!), well they help you look slimmer by adding several inches to your height. This will give the illusion of a slimmer silhouette overall.

If you’re struggling with big arms, stay away from tank-tops, tube tops, and anything that will expose your arms to such an extent. Instead, go for on the shoulder straps and asymmetrical shaped tops, as well as flared arm tops.

Have calf problems? Put on a cute knee-length skirt and a pair of heels ( don’t worry, 1-2 inch is just enough!), and you’ll see a huge difference in your legs. After all, who doesn’t want to strut around with a pair of sexy legs?
